CamelBak: Hydration On-the-Go
Brief History
It may come as a surprise, the CamelBak innovative idea came from two unexpected materials: a white tube sock and an IV bag. It happened while cyclist enthusiast, Michael Eidson, was competing in the Hotter'N Hell 100. The four-day, 100-mile road race happened in the insufferable heat of Wichita Falls, Texas. Because there was not enough time for water refills, Eidson came up with the brilliant idea of filling an IV bag with water and slipping this into a white tube sock
This improv helped him survive the marathon. With the hose clamped shut with a clothespin over his shoulder, the hands-free hydration solution CamelBak was born.
